How Paul Doyle unleashed two minutes of horror at Liverpool victory parade

Horrifying footage has emerged of Paul Doyle shouting “move”, “fuck you bastards” and “get out of his way” as he drove his car into Liverpool football fans in an expletive-laden attack.
Dashcam footage from Doyle’s car shows the former Royal Marine “angrily” driving through the crowd to celebrate Liverpool’s Premier League title, with pedestrians pushing their children out of the vehicle’s path.
The disturbing footage also shows a man falling onto the windshield of a car, causing it to crash. Prosecutors said his “rage completely took over” him when he used a Ford Galaxy, weighing nearly two tonnes, “as a weapon”, injuring more than 130 people.
Doyle cried, bowed his head and closed his eyes as the footage, recorded between 5.59pm and 6.01pm on May 26, was played at Liverpool Crown Court on the first day of the two-day trial. While the video was being played, the victims in the court also burst into tears.
Here’s a timeline of how Doyle’s actions turned a day of celebration into one of the darkest days in the city’s history, according to shocking footage.

Doyle left his home to pick up his friend Dave Clark from the city center at 5.29pm and was seen driving “aggressively”. He would regularly follow other vehicles and run red lights before turning onto Dale Street.

When Doyle’s vehicle entered Dale Street, an ambulance was ahead of him trying to reach a member of the public who had collapsed with a suspected heart attack.
Prosecutor Paul Greaney KC told the court that someone moved some traffic cones so the ambulance could drive to the left of queuing traffic, and Doyle passed through the same gap a short time later.
Footage shown in court showed Doyle following behind a bus, then drifting to the right and getting into a black Kia vehicle to see if he could make any progress.
Despite the heavy crowd, Doyle chose to continue towards Dale Street, becoming “a source of concern for pedestrians”, including a person with a car and a child.
“The strong implication from the dashcam footage is that the defendant saw himself as the most important person on Dale Street and felt that everyone had to get out of his way to get where he wanted to get,” Mr Greaney said.

While Doyle “persisted” in the crowd, he “continued to worry pedestrians on the road”, with dashcam footage showing a man walking with a child placing his foot on the bumper of the car to “protect” the teenager.
In the dashcam footage, Doyle can be heard saying, “This is a road.” He can be heard shouting.
Mr Greaney said: “The prosecution case is that Paul Doyle was beginning to lose his temper at this stage, even if he had not already lost it.
Pedestrians began hitting the roof of Doyle’s vehicle and parents began pushing their children out of the way, with the defendant heard shouting “f******” several times.

Footage of the moments when Doyle entered the crowd was shown on the field from many different cameras and angles.
The prosecutor said Doyle was heard shouting “get out of the f***ing road, you f*cking b****” as he drove.
Mr Greaney said: “The prosecution say he was a man out of control.”
He said Doyle put his car into reverse after being stationary for a short time on Dale Street and suddenly moved towards the crowd behind, prompting one member of the public to punch the car and another to kick it.
Mr Greaney said: “He then pulled forward before turning sharply back towards the man again. [who] He was kicking the car. “He was using the galaxy as a weapon.”
He said someone opened the driver’s door and a clear plastic cup was thrown, but Doyle managed to close the door and then began moving into the “dense” crowd.
The court heard someone punched the rear window and a camping chair was thrown inside.
The first person hit by the vehicle was Jack Trotter, who tried to move out of the way but was hit by Galaxy, causing an injury to his leg.
Doyle then crashed into a group of five people, including Jon Evans, who was thrown onto the bonnet while shouting “fuck you”.
He also knocked down a female police officer and another group of people while turning onto Water Street, then hit a 10-year-old girl, who luckily suffered only minor injuries.
Among those struck by Doyle were a woman with a severe fracture to her right knee, a 13-year-old boy, a paramedic on a bicycle and a 60-year-old woman.
Sheree Aldridge was shot while pushing her five-month-old son, Teddy Eveson, into a stroller with her partner, Daniel Eveson, and the stroller was thrown into the air.

In the last 16 seconds, “hero” Daniel Barr managed to get to the passenger side and shift the gear lever into “park” mode.
He held it there “as hard as he could” and although Barr kept his foot on the gas pedal, the Galaxy eventually came to a halt.
After it stopped, 77-year-old Susan Passey, an 11-year-old boy, and teenagers Aaron Cothliff and Ethan Gilland were trapped under the car.
The crowd was “unsurprisingly hostile” towards Doyle, and he suffered minor injuries following blows. He was caught at the scene and taken into custody.
