How the drama of the two-day Perth Test was perfect for 2025
The 847 balls bowled was the ninth lowest recorded in Test history. Three of the eight matches completed before this were played on open-roofed pitches in the late 1880s. Another in 1912, and two in the 1930s.

According to CricViz, Head’s misfire percentage was calculated at 18.5 percent; that was exactly half the 37 percent recorded by each batter in the first three innings.
After England’s vaunted quickness continued with a barrage of short balls bullying Australia in the first innings, Head returned the bullying.
A series of calculated attacks and tennis-style strokes meant that 13 of 16 boundaries came in front of the square despite England repeatedly bowling in their own half of the field, while three of their four sixes connected and ramped behind the wicket.
