How to walk 30 minutes a day – your tips

Ed Shirt, 25, suggests carving out 30 minutes wherever you can during the day and breaking it up into chunks to make it more manageable.

“Walk before work, on your lunch break, or after dinner,” she says. “You don’t need to do the whole 30 minutes at once; three 10-minute walks throughout the day add up to the same amount.”

Living by the beach in Prestatyn, Denbighshire, Wales, she often sets a timer and chooses a spot to walk. “I literally spend half an hour walking to the beach. There’s something about the movement of walking that clears your mind. I love walking for my mental health.”

The key, he says, is to make walking part of your daily routine rather than viewing it as exercise. “Walking is one of the easiest ways to boost both your physical and mental health, and once it becomes a habit you’ll really notice the difference.”
