Huge blow for ARN Media after breaching complaints against Kyle Jackie O Show

The owner of The Kyle & Jackie O Show has been given an enforceable 18-month commitment by the media watchdog for failing to address numerous breaches of the controversial programme.

According to the Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA), ARN Media, media owners of The Kyle & Jackie O Show, have been accused of breaching complaints handling under the Commercial Radio Code of Practice.

Commercial radio broadcasters were given 30 days to respond to complaints about the Code, with one of those periods given to the program in October 2025.

ACMA found that between August and September 2024, Sydney licensee Commonwealth Broadcasting Corporation Pty Ltd received seven Code complaints.

But they said only one in seven complaints against the Kyle & Jackie O Show had been addressed.

15 Code complaints were made to Melbourne licensee Double T Radio Pty Ltd, of which nine were not responded to within the 30-day period.

“The court-enforceable undertaking requires licensees to report to the ACMA on their processes for handling listener complaints, as well as any changes or improvements made. All staff involved in handling complaints will also be required to receive training in compliance with the relevant provisions of the Code,” the enforcement action said.

Co-hosts Kyle Sandilands and Jackie Henderson are suing ARN Media and its subsidiary Commonwealth Broadcasting Corporation after their 10-year, $100 million contract was terminated following an on-air fight between the co-hosts.
