HUGH HEWITT: Fauci’s diaries reveal why Americans stopped trusting him

Before the accelerating news cycle takes us to combat operations with Iran, Dr. We should touch on one more aspect of the Fauci story.

Dr. It should surprise no one that Fauci invoked Fifth Amendment protections on Wednesday. His diaries are cursed. Any statement he makes puts him in danger of violating 18 USC 1001, which punishes making false statements to any federal official.

Dr. Fauci has made many false statements during the Covid outbreak. He received a pardon. He does not want to re-enter the world of potentially criminal behavior by trying to justify his evasions and lies.

Dr. Fauci has done a lot of good throughout his long career. He also did a lot of damage. I trusted him completely at the beginning of the pandemic, but by my third and final interview I was calling for him to resign on air because his lack of credibility was detrimental to public health now and in the future.

The interview made him angry, which is a good thing. Journalists should expect to anger people occasionally. It’s part of the job.

Dr. What Fauci revealed in his diary that day has yet to gain much attention. The September 29, 2021 entry indicates that he is literally suffering from “Trump Derangement Syndrome (“TDS”).

My attention is focused on this entry on September 29, 2021; It’s not because he followed up on the interview with me that angered him, it’s Dr. Because the interview “triggered it,” Fauci noted. The doctor’s article, with spelling and punctuation, concludes:

“This conversation triggered some serious thinking in me about a lot of things, including when I would want to retire from the untenable situation I’m in, where tens of millions of people hate me for defending the truth. Also, this nonsense about conflating the gain-of-function debate with the laboratory lead theory is illogical and completely distracting and drains everyone’s energy. Richard Ebright is a complete asshole who pushes this theory out of his obsession with gain-of-function because he ‘wants’ to be someone.” I’m very disappointed that Jesse Bloom and David Relman did the same thing. They have long been pushing to stop any profits being made from function research, and in some ways I believe they are pushing for an equal outcome, hoping that this is a lab leak. Molecular analysis of the viruses we use in the laboratory compared to the SARS-CoV-2 virus clearly shows that it is molecularly impossible to manipulate or manipulate viruses under NIH auspices. Opposition to me is part of the ‘big lie’; Trump won the election; January 6 was indeed a friendly visit to the Capitol; ‘Chinese virus’ and Trump was right, ‘Fire Fauci’ and so let’s discredit him and stuff like that. It will collapse with the 2024 elections. If Trump wins, we’re done. If Trump loses, his far-right lunatics will likely try to overthrow the election again, and I fear that state legislators may actually be successful with their attempts to certify (Republican) electoral votes. “There’s no way I can retire until this pandemic is under control.”

Three observations about this long rambling paragraph.

First, Dr. because people didn’t trust him. I called on Fauci to retire on air. He resisted this on air, but later admitted the truth of the accusation in his diary. When “tens of millions of people hate you” and you’re a public health official, it’s time to step aside.

Second, his disdain for President Trump leads him to ridiculous “TDS”-driven extremes like alarmism about our democracy. This is a left-wing view that was never remotely true, but he believed it, which underscores his sensitivity to old media narratives. Again, if you’re a Democratic senator or official, parroting leftist nonsense for your base is part of the job. But public health bureaucrats need to operate without absorbing the wild rhetoric of both extremes.

Finally, this entry doesn’t attract much attention due to the existence of not an Iron Dome or Gold Dome in the legacy media of the Manhattan-Beltway, but a left-wing “Democrat dome” that suppresses or at least partially disables bad stories for Democrats and Democrat-adjacent officials and media figures.

From the national security danger of Secretary Clinton’s private server, to the stupidity of Steele Dossier and Hunter Biden’s laptop, to the absurdity of Donald Trump’s Judge Merchan trial in New York City and Jack Smith’s Javert-like actions, to the Robert Hur tapes and more, stories that blow up the left’s beloved narratives don’t pack much of a punch in legacy media. Democrat Dome is working.

The “Democrat Dome” is a remarkable “platinum dome” that almost never manages to at least minimize, if not completely eliminate, such “bad for Democrats” stories. It also works to interfere with most of the good news for President Trump. Its effectiveness is close to 100%.

The Democrat dome of Manhattan-Beltway’s legacy media has been showing signs of stress and failure in recent years. Bari Weiss has slowly helped turn CBS News into the fifth pillar of objectivity within the dome’s coverage, and the new media’s constant bombardment of great news about the Democrat dome is coming close to crushing it completely.

Dr. The latest public service Fauci has provided is this last dam to the credibility of legacy media. It is clear that many of the people named in the diaries will not want to address the diaries and the many substories they contain.

But this won’t work. Too many parents have too many children being punished for the terrible public policy Team Fauci implemented to get the story across. Actually Dr. Fauci may have launched the most devastating barrage into the Democratic Dome among the many attacks that have marked Trump’s decade.

Now back to the war and the need for major escalation by American and allied forces.
