Hungarian hotshot Dominik Szoboszlai in fight against poverty | UK | News

Liverpool heroes past and present have come together to fight poverty and are already raising thousands of pounds for children in need. Anfield legend TV pundit Jamie Carragher and Reds midfielder Dominik Szoboszlai joined forces at a glitzy Football For Change party, rubbing shoulders with big names from football, business and showbiz. It was all for a powerful cause. The aim of the star-studded event was to give struggling youth a chance at a better life, pumping money into education, training and sports programs that could change the future for the better.

Carragher helped launch the initiative alongside his fellow England stars in 2021 and has already made a huge impact, supporting hundreds of grassroots groups and helping children dream bigger.

Now Hungarian standout Szoboszlai also steps up and this comes as Liverpool enjoy great success on the pitch in their sensational debut season.

But what he does off the field also attracts attention.

Carragher couldn’t contain his praise, saying Szoboszlai wasn’t just about bossing games, he was showing real leadership where it mattered most.

He said: “Dominik has been incredible this season and you can see he is a leader – but what he does outside of football is just as important.

“For him to come here, get involved and support young people who have tough starts in life is incredible. That’s leadership on and off the field.”

“He has a huge future at Liverpool Football Club and it shows exactly the kind of person he is.”

The former Kop defender and Sky Sports pundit said the midfielder “has what it takes”, hinting he could become Liverpool captain in the future.

Szoboszlai said it was an easy decision to support the cause, given the impact Football for Change has had in communities.

“It’s great to be a part of something that helps young people who need it most,” he said. “I love Liverpool and my life here, so it’s important to provide support like this, supporting young people who need help.”

Funds raised from the event will go directly to projects that provide life-changing opportunities for young people, continuing Football for Change’s mission to harness the power of football to drive social change.

Meanwhile, BRIT Award winner James Bay performed at the glittering event.
