Hyderabad Police Foils Child Marriage Hour before Wedding

Hyderabad: Hyderabad police stopped child marriages an hour before the wedding at a community hall in Borabanda. Later, the authorities shifted the 17-year-old bride to the Government Daughters Observatory in Nimboliadda.

The girl’s family made every arrangement to make the marriage work successfully. While the priest was preparing to complete the wedding, the police, along with the officer’s child line and representatives of an NGO, came to the hall and stopped the wedding.

The wedding, which will take place at 12.30 on Wednesday, came to the hall along with the officials from their hometown in Nizamabad district.

They checked the girl’s certificates and found that she was a minor.

Although the family members and relatives of the bride and groom requested the official authorities to allow them to marry, the official authorities did not allow the consequences of the marriage of an underage girl to be explained to them.

The police warned the priest and the family that they would be arrested if they attempted to force the girl into marriage. With written consent from the girl’s family, police and child line officials sent the girl to the Government Girls Observatory in Nimboliadda.
