Hyderabad Turns to Ice Cream, Dahi and Mangoes to Beat the Heat

Hyderabad: As temperatures rise, Hyderabad caters to summer cravings with shopping carts filled with ice cream, mangoes, cold drinks and buttermilk. According to Instamart’s Summer Trends 2026 report, the city is emerging as a key market for high-value summer hampers, with some orders exceeding ₹11,000.

The report highlights how Indians have adapted their consumption habits during hot weather, turning daily shopping into seasonal rituals. In Hyderabad, ordering patterns reflect a balance between comfort, hydration and sweet indulgence. Demand for summer essentials has risen sharply across the country, with top items rising by up to 300 percent per week. While an increase of over 280 percent was observed in cooling devices such as fans, an annual increase of 650 percent was recorded in sunglasses.

Hyderabad’s biggest summer drive consisted of ice cream, mangoes, cold drinks and buttermilk and cost over ₹11,000. Similar trends were seen in cities; Bengaluru’s top spenders crossed ₹11,000 for cold brew, buttermilk, mango, ice cream and genius. In Guntur, a user spent over ₹15,000 on energy drinks and rechargeable mini fans, while in Central Goa and Kolkata, the top summer purchases crossed ₹10,000, with a mix of coconut water, mango, yoghurt and frozen desserts.
