Royal sisters support grandmother at memorial service in Spain | Royal | News
The Spanish Royal Family showed support for each other by attending the memorial service for Princess Irene of Greece and Denmark. The ceremony was held at the Greek Orthodox Cathedral of St. Andrew and St. Demetrius in Madrid, ahead of the late Princess’s funeral in Athens on Monday.

The Spanish royal family said: “Their Majesty the King and Queen and Her Majesty Queen Sofia are saddened to announce the passing of Her Royal Highness Princess Irene of Greece at 11.40am today at Zarzuela Palace in Madrid.”
Queen Sofia canceled her appointments in Palma de Mallorca this week to be with her sister after it became apparent that her sister’s health was deteriorating.
He was last photographed in February last year at the wedding of his nephew, Prince Nikolaos of Greece, and Chrysi Vardinogiánni in Athens.
Princess Irene’s funeral will take place on Monday, January 19, at the Athens Metropolitan Cathedral, followed by burial in the Royal Cemetery at Tatoi Palace.
