President Donald Trump said Thursday that his administration is postponing the upcoming signing ceremony for its highly anticipated executive order on the artificial intelligence industry.
Trump told reporters in the Oval Office that the event, planned for Thursday afternoon, was postponed “because I didn’t like some aspects of it.”
Trump said the United States is ahead of China and the rest of the world on artificial intelligence and “I don’t want to do anything that gets in the way of that leadership.”
He added that AI “provides tremendous benefits” and was concerned that the executive order “could be prohibitive.”
The postponement was first reported early Thursday. axios. The White House referred Trump’s remarks to CNBC when asked for comment on the delay.
