I lost five pounds in six weeks when I discovered ‘Nature’s Ozempic’: All the benefits of the jabs with NONE of the side effects – and I just stir it into my morning coffee… by BEATRICE AIDIN

At Caffe Nero, the barista gave me a strange look as I poured two sachets of oil into my coffee. No, I haven’t developed a weird olive oil addiction. I’ve been trying Ancient + Brave’s True MCT Oil, which claims to boost your metabolism, support fat-burning abilities, and keep appetite full longer, as well as improving brain function and energy levels. Everything I need.
My energy is low these days and as summer approaches, my joy decreases when I try on my white. jeans and I see sausage-like hips. I’m not Liz Hurley and I can drop half a stone. That’s why, along with my fans, including TV star Kourtney Kardashian and actress Halle Berry, I’m eager to try MCT oil.
Ancient + Brave Science and Innovation Director Dr. Jenna Macciochi explains: ‘MCT stands for medium-chain triglycerides (medium-length fatty acid chains), and what makes them different is the way they are metabolized in the body.’
MCTs contain fats that are quickly absorbed and go directly to the liver, where they are converted into ketones for energy rather than being stored as fat, making them an efficient fuel source. This boosts your metabolism and keeps you feeling full for longer, reducing your urge to attack the cake pan.
MCTs are naturally occurring fatty acids found in coconut oil, so why can’t I go to the supermarket and buy real coconut oil under a generic label, I ask Dr Jenna?
He explains that the real, quality product consists solely of coconut oil, which contains a mixture of two MCTs called caprylic acid and capric acid, which are converted into ketones most quickly by the liver.
Since MCT oil has fans such as reality star Kourtney Kardashian and actress Halle Berry, Beatrice Aidin was keen to try it.
Can this improved coconut oil help me change the accumulation of Mini Eggs on the scale? MCT is tasteless and has a smooth texture, so you can drink it neat or pour it into coffee.
Regular coconut oil also contains lauric acid, technically classified as an MCT, but it is metabolized more like a long-chain fatty acid and largely absorbed by the lymphatic system, not quickly converted into ketones.
With their appetite suppressant qualities, MCTs can be seen as nature’s Ozempic (though Ancient + Brave doesn’t make that claim).
Even though I wanted to lose a few pounds, I didn’t want to go down the path of getting fat.
First, I’m not in the weight group that deserves fat bumps. Then there is the cost. I am also concerned about the impact of fat injections on my eyesight.
The claim that GLP-1s may affect vision (Robbie Williams, for example, claims to have blurred vision and believes this may be linked to his use of injections) is enough to put me off.
So could this improved coconut oil – without the eye risk – help me shift Mini Egg buildup on the scale? I thought it was definitely worth a try.
MCT is tasteless and has a smooth texture, so you can drink it neat or pour it over food or coffee. It comes in a large 500ml bottle for the home (£29, antikandbrave.earth) and in handy 10ml sachets to keep in your bag (£18 for 15). There are many other brands as well; Check out Holland & Barrett, Planet Organic or your local pharmacy.
I now take four teaspoons a day; One teaspoon each in the morning, lunch, tea time and evening. Don’t do what I did and be completely enthusiastic from the start.
Instead of using a 5ml teaspoon as recommended for the first few days, I started my coffee with 10ml and let’s just say I’m lucky to work from home close to the bathroom. By the third week, I had reached 20ml of MCT and all digestive problems had disappeared.
After six weeks, I had lost five pounds (a healthy half a pound a week) with no dieting or deprivation.
My blood sugar seems more stable throughout the day and my sleep is deeper; But it’s harder to avoid the snooze button in the morning.
MCT is also said to support brain health and potentially increase mental clarity, which is of particular interest to me.
Five years ago I was diagnosed with ADHD, which means I am easily distracted and experience unpredictable bursts of tunnel vision. Can MCT help with this too? ADHD is a neurological condition, and even after my three-week trial, I am less tense and calm.
I also believe MCT helped with the shoulder injury I had for six months.
While Ancient + Brave makes no such claims, I feel like my joints are exposed to WD-40, my flexibility is back, and I’m pain-free.
My skin is softer, I’ve lost weight, I have a more stable mood, I have better concentration, and my joint health has improved. Who knew all this power could come from the humble coconut, with no pina colada in sight?
