‘I worked for Prince Andrew – he called us buffoons if job took too long’ | Royal | News

Prince Andrew reportedly shouted at royal security guards as “fucking clowns” for opening the doors too slowly for him.
That’s according to Paul Page, who provided armed protection for the Queen, Prince Phillip and Prince Andrew from 1998 to 2004.
These comments about the man formerly known as the Duke of York resurfaced after 60 Minutes Australia reposted an interview it conducted with Page three years ago.
Meanwhile, Page was asked if the royal family was easy to deal with, and he said Prince Philip could be “cautious”, while the Queen was “wonderful, very kind and respectful”, adding: “Unfortunately Prince Andrew was completely different.”
Page, who worked for six years at Buckingham Palace, where Andrew previously had his own rooms, claimed that “even the smallest thing could get out of control” during his time there.
Explaining further, he said: “For example, the officers at the door, because sometimes they are tending to things, tending to guests, and if he suddenly appeared, we would usually get a notification from the guard officer in the car next to him that they had entered.
“Sometimes there will be a situation where we can’t open the doors fast enough, so if he needs to slow down for a minute he’ll shout out the window – ‘you bloody clowns’ and things like that.
“He had no leeway, if it wasn’t done right for him then it could get out of control.”
Page also appeared in a recent Channel 5 documentary; where he claimed Andrew called a staff member a “fat piggy bastard”.
The former police officer faced his own controversy in 2009 when he was sentenced to prison for his involvement in a property scam in which he tricked people into giving him money.
Later in 2022, he appeared in an ITV documentary alongside Ranvir Singh called Prince Andrew, Ghislaine and Paedophile. Meanwhile, she talked about Andrew’s tantrums and his “huge teddy bear collection”.
Meanwhile, Andrew began dealing with his own problems after making a statement saying he would no longer use his titles due to new allegations against him.
He had already lost his royal patronages and military titles in 2022 due to his legal dispute with Virginia Giuffre, who died in April this year.
She claimed that notorious pedophile Jeffrey Epstein forced her to have sexual intercourse with Andrew on three separate occasions when she was 17, something Epstein has always denied.
Andrew, who had also withdrawn from public duties and no longer performed official royal duties, reached an out-of-court settlement with Virginia; this was not an admission of guilt and he accepted no responsibility.
Following the revocation of his title last week, he said: “In discussions with the King and my immediate and wider family, we have concluded that the ongoing allegations against me are a distraction from the work of Her Majesty and the Royal Family.
“As always, I decided to put my duty to my family and my country first. I stand by my decision five years ago to stay away from public life.
“We think that, with His Majesty’s approval, I must now go one step further. Therefore, I will no longer use my title or the honors bestowed upon me. As I have said before, I strongly deny the accusations against me.”
Buckingham Palace chose not to comment on the allegations in this news.
