IAS Officer’s Daughter Ends Life in Guntur After Making Dowry Harassment Charges

Tadepalli (Andhra Pradesh): A 25-year-old woman, the daughter of an IAS officer, allegedly died by suicide at her parental home in Guntur district after making allegations of dowry harassment months ago, a police official said on Tuesday.
Police stated that after he did not come out of the bathroom for a long time, his parents broke down the door and found him hanging.
“Madhuri Sahitibai (25), daughter of an IAS officer, was found dead at her parents’ house on Sunday after earlier making allegations of dowry harassment,” Mangalagiri DSP Murali Krishna told PTI.
A case has been registered under Section 80 of BNS (which deals with dowry deaths). According to police, Sahitibai had fallen in love with Rajesh Naidu from her village in Bugganapalli in Betancharala Mandal in Nandyal district and had earlier dropped out of the B Tech course due to backlogs.
She married Naidu on March 5 and informed her and her husband’s families on March 7. The wedding was later recorded. However, police said she called her parents a few months ago, claiming that she was facing dowry harassment, following which her parents brought her back to their home in the first week of September.
Police said his parents agreed to return with them and he has been staying at their home ever since.
