ICE arrests convicted sex offender Mahad Abdulkadir Yusuf from Somalia

FIRST ON FOX: U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents arrested an illegal immigrant sex offender from Somalia in Minnesota during a targeted operation on Dec. 31, Fox News has learned.

According to ICE, illegal immigrant Mahad Abdulkadir Yusuf had a prior conviction for first-degree criminal sexual conduct after he repeatedly forced a victim to perform oral sex on him. Additionally, the agency said Yusuf was arrested in 2016 for first-degree assault and has an active arrest warrant starting in 2024 for obstructing police.

ICE said Yousef first entered the United States in 1996 and was a legal permanent resident, but “wasted his chance at the American dream by repaying our country’s generosity with these despicable crimes.”

“Thanks to the protective policies of Minnesota Governor Tim Walz and Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey, this dangerous criminal was free to roam the streets and victimize Minneapolis residents for years,” ICE wrote in a statement.

Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) said agents had previously attempted to arrest Yusuf but were thwarted by the apartment manager in the building. The manager allegedly prevented agents from entering the building.

“Ongoing misinformation about local sanctuary policies and what ICE operations actually entail continues to fuel these irresponsible, dangerous actions that hinder law enforcement enforcement,” HSI Special Agent in Charge Mark Zito said in a statement. he said. “Every time local jurisdictions refuse to cooperate with ICE and activists use their ridiculous whistles and bullhorns to warn criminal aliens, they are helping violent criminals, including convicted sex predators like this one, evade justice.”

In its statement regarding Yusuf’s arrest, ICE claimed that more than 622 thousand deportations have been carried out since January 20, 2025, when the Trump administration’s crackdown on illegal immigrants began.

Federal immigration officials are under increased scrutiny after an ICE officer fatally shot 37-year-old Renee Nicole Good in Minneapolis. Democratic lawmakers, including Minnesota Governor Tim Walz and Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey, criticized the agency after the attack. Frey demanded that ICE “get the hell out” of his city, while Walz issued a warning order to the National Guard.

Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem accused Good of “stalking and obstructing” agents all day. He also said Good allegedly tried to “get a gun into his vehicle” and “tried to run over a law enforcement officer.”
