ICE Acting Director Todd Lyons argued Tuesday that federal immigration agents face “constant obstacles” and “constant attacks” following video showing a suspected illegal immigrant in San Antonio crashing into cars in an attempt to escape.
In the video, an immigrant in a car can be seen crashing into vehicles blocking them from the front and back while trying to escape arrest.
Appearing on Fox News’ “Hannity,” Lyons was asked whether Democrats’ rhetoric criticizing ICE was linked to such incidents.

“When we hear elected officials calling on individuals to obstruct or impede ICE law enforcement operations across the country, you will see incidents like this,” Lyons said. “You saw officers and agents trying to capture a criminal illegal alien, and there they are using their cars as weapons.”
Lyons said one of the agents whose car was hit in the incident went to the hospital with a neck injury.
“The men and women of ICE face this every day,” he claimed. “Constant blocking, constant attacks like this. And it’s not safe for my family, it’s not safe for the public. This really needs to stop.”
He also alleged that “criminal gangs” organized groups to disrupt or obstruct immigration enforcement operations.

“It’s a constitutional right to go out there and protest. But when you organize criminal gangs who organize these groups to disrupt or impede law enforcement operations, that’s a criminal act. I’ll tell you this: Homeland Security investigations, my family, the FBI, we’re investigating these things, and people can be held accountable because you can’t go out and organize groups to obstruct law enforcement. This is a crime, and we have to act quickly to prevent it from spreading,” he said.
Lyons was also asked about recent comments from Philadelphia District Attorney Larry Krasner, who has vowed to prosecute any ICE agent who commits illegal actions during operations in the city and emphasized that his threat does not apply to “honest, decent, moral” agents.
“The men and women of ICE, the men and women of HSI, are committing no crimes,” Lyons said. “So he doesn’t have to worry about arresting anyone in my family because we enforce the law. We’re out there every day making this country and his city safe again. So he shouldn’t worry about the men and women of ICE. What he should be worried about are the asylum policies that cause these criminal aliens to come back into their neighborhoods and commit heinous crimes like smuggling fentanyl, human trafficking, raping a child. He should focus on those and let the law stand. law enforcement does law enforcement.”

This incident comes on the heels of a recent incident in Minnesota; U.S. citizen Renee Nicole Good was fatally shot by masked ICE agent Jonathan Ross; that agent, Jonathan Ross, fired from the side of the vehicle into the driver’s open window and then yelled “f—h” as the car crashed into another parked vehicle.
Democrats and local residents condemned the attack as murder and called for Ross to be prosecuted, while the Trump administration and Republican lawmakers defended the incident, arguing it was a justified shooting.
