Id celebrated with religious fervour in Uttar Pradesh amid tight security

Under tight security measures, Eid-al-Adha was celebrated with traditional enthusiasm in Uttar Pradesh on Thursday, May 28, 2026.

Devotees gathered at mosques and idgahs for special prayers as administrations across the state kept strict vigil and appealed for maintenance of peace and brotherhood. Special security measures have been put in place at sensitive places in districts like Sambhal, Meerut, Saharanpur, Rampur, Moradabad, Aligarh, Bareilly, Bahraich, Varanasi and Ayodhya with deployment of Provincial Armed Constabulary and Rapid Action Force and surveillance through CCTVs.

“Under the instructions of Superintendent of Police Rampur, all Circle Officers visited and inspected the Idgahs, assessed the security arrangements and traffic management and issued necessary instructions to the policemen on duty,” the police said.

In Saharanpur, police have taken tight security measures at sensitive places and appealed to people to observe the festival in a safe environment.
