Idaho victims' families to address killer directly at Kohberger sentencing

The families of the victims were divided on a defense agreement, which required Kohberger to waive the right to appeal and to search for a sentence reduction in accordance with the law of Idaho. Although the claim agreement did not require Kohberger to explain his actions at the July 2 hearing, the others, including Goncalves’s father and president Trump, said that they should give more details in punishment.

In exchange for the criminal defense, Kohberger avoids the death penalty and is expected to receive the maximum punishment of four life prisons without any conditional evacuation.
