  • Spoiler alert: This article names the secret traitor and contains details of the new series of The Traitors.

The identity of the “secret traitor” was revealed in the final episode of The Traitors, when Fiona joined Stephen and Rachel in the castle turret.

Wearing a red cloak, the secret traitor had been operating in plain sight since being singled out by presenter Claudia Winkleman in the opening episode of the BBC One series.

He was given some powers, such as compiling a shortlist of players the other three traitors were allowed to kill.

This revelation comes after Hugo was voted out at the round table last week, sending the first traitor into exile.

Fiona’s accomplices agreed that she did a “fantastic” job of fooling the other players while blowing her cover in the turret.

“Hollywood is calling us. I can feel it,” he said.

For the first time since the series’ launch in 2022, viewers have been kept in the dark about the identity of a fourth secret traitor as part of a newly revealed twist.

Anonymity allowed viewers at home to play together for the first time to see if they could be more successful than loyalists in spotting a traitor.

The 62-year-old local government official was delighted to finally meet his traitorous friends after four episodes.

“If the devil could cast his net, he couldn’t have chosen a better trio,” he said.

But it may be difficult for the new traitor to bond with these two and make his own position more vulnerable.

Rachel admitted she was “nervous” that Fiona might “ruffle a few feathers”, especially when she voted for traitorous Hugo in Friday’s episode.

“He had to go. I’ve done your job for you the last few nights,” Fiona said to a shocked Rachel.

At the end of Friday’s episode, the traitors were given the opportunity to unmask the secret traitor if they completed a secret mission.

Rachel and Stephen had to put a blood-coloured fingerprint on the faces of nine contestants in a group portrait, shortlisting them for murder without being noticed by the other players.

After Rachel successfully completes the mission, it is confirmed that the identity of the secret traitor will be revealed in the next episode.

Before Wednesday’s revelation, Stephen and Rachel had made a pact that future exiles would not write each other’s names at the round table.

Hugo, On Traitors

Former traitor Hugo was not happy about this secret traitor thing and jokingly said: “I don’t need middle management.”

The producers had not previously confirmed how long the secret traitor would remain unknown.

However, some viewers speculated on social media that Hugo’s surprise exile may have led to the secret traitor’s identity being revealed sooner than expected.

The secret traitor’s presence had not gone down well with the other three traitors. With Hugo’s unforgettable comments that it “does not need middle management”.

The secret traitor, the only player who knew the true status of all the other contestants, changed the dynamic of the game and caused the other traitors to have less control.
