Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) senior administrative committee chief coordinator KA Sengottaiyan said that he will submit the application on Wednesday, February 4, 2026 (viruppa manuHe will contest from Gobichettipalayam Assembly constituency in the upcoming Assembly elections on February 6.
He spoke to reporters after inaugurating the party’s new office in Vellankovil near Gobichettipalayam. Mr. Sengottaiyan said that in the Rasipuram meeting, AIADMK cadres themselves were carrying TVK flags and it was wrong to claim that TVK cadres came there.

Responding to criticism over party founder Vijay’s dancing at the party’s third anniversary celebrations, Mr. Sengottaiyan said Mr. Vijay danced only after he was asked to dance during the performance of a Murugan devotional song. He questioned why similar scrutiny was not applied to other political leaders. He reiterated that he will continue to stand by Mr. Vijay and said that the announcement regarding the next phase of the party tour will be made within two days.
Addressing AIADMK leader Dindigul Srinivasan’s allegations that Mr. Vijay accepted black money, Mr. Sengottaiyan said such allegations should be supported by evidence and warned against making false statements. On whether the TVK would contest the elections independently, he said the matter remained open and added that “silence is a sign of victory.”

Reacting to Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman’s reported statement that TVK will not dent BJP’s vote bank but will impact DMK, Mr. Sengottaiyan expressed confidence that TVK will win the 2026 Assembly elections. He said the election results would reveal who is afraid of the party, who its real rivals are and whose voting base is melting.
