Ilkeston fire LIVE: Residents told ‘close doors and windows’ as major blaze erupts | UK | News

Ward Recycling Center Operations Director Donald Ward released a statement following the fire this afternoon.

Mr Ward explained that the fire was now under control and no one at the facility was harmed.

He added: “We are saddened to learn that a fire broke out at our metal recycling and waste management facility on Griffon Road in Ilkeston on the morning of Thursday 6 November 2025.

“It started in the area where scrap vehicles are processed and recycled, eliminating vehicle pollution, and was quickly brought under control.

“Everyone on site is safe and well and the situation is under control. We would like to express our deepest gratitude to Derbyshire Fire and Rescue Service who responded and managed the situation as quickly as possible with fantastic response and support.”
