Why Stokes’ cheeky dig at Hussain indicates England will bat first in Adelaide
“I don’t want to be another Nasser Hussein.”
Hussain criticized Stokes and coach Brendon McCullum after England’s thumping win in Brisbane, which saw them trail 2-0 with three games remaining.
Hussain wrote: “They don’t think intelligently. They don’t think directly under pressure.” Athletic.
“The first sign of insanity is doing the same things and expecting different results, and England just can’t afford that right now.

England spearhead Jofra Archer will reignite his feud with Steve Smith following a late-match exchange during Australia’s win in Brisbane.
After Smith angered Archer for only fast bowling, a “champion when nothing happens”, Stokes promised that England would be ready to call Australia’s batsmen into action if the situation required it.
“I can’t wait to see what this week brings,” Stokes said. “If a moment arises where we feel like we need to be a little more cranky, then I’m sure it will happen and we’ll have to jump behind those moments as a team.
“To ensure that the mind is not just trying to create something like that.”

The 1936-37 Australian team remains the only team in Ashes history to come from 2-0 down to win the five-match series. After what Stokes describes as honest conversations and a few days of sunshine and bonding in Noosa, the England captain believes his side can make history with an unchanged starting seven from Brisbane.
The only changes to England’s XI were pacer Josh Tongue replacing Gus Atkinson and spinner Shoaib Bashir again being overlooked in favor of all-rounder Will Jacks.
“We know what it’s like to be in this situation before,” Stokes said, referring to the 2023 Ashes in which England came from 2-0 down to a 2-2 result.
