I’m A Celeb FIRST LOOK: Jubilant Kelly Brook, Shona McCarty, Eddie Kadi, Martin Kemp and Aitch parachute onto the beach ahead of their jungle debut

I’m a Celebrity officially kicked off as five of the contestants completed their first attempt parachuting from a helicopter over Australia’s Gold Coast.

Spandau Ballet guitarist Martin Kemp, model and actress Kelly Brook, rapper Aitch, comedian Edie Kadi and former EastEnders star Shona McGarty enjoyed a group hug when they touched down at Broadwater Beach earlier today.

After successfully jumping from individual helicopters, the group gathered and danced on the beach as they celebrated their first success on the reality show.

Presenters Ant McPartlin, 49, and Declan Donelly, 50, stood high on the headland and waved to their campmates after their daring feat.

Wearing a leopard-print jumpsuit and boots, Kelly, 45, looked particularly pleased with herself as she jumped for joy once she was safely back on land.

Her co-star Martin, 64, wore a navy blue polo top with cream chinos for the skydive, while Aitch, 25, wore a matching blue and white striped outfit.

While 34-year-old Shona wore a colorful patterned combination, 42-year-old Edi kept it simple with a white T-shirt and brown trousers.

But it won’t be long before the team dons the red and khaki jungle jersey that has become synonymous with the ITV programme.

When their new campmates arrived, Ant and Dec stood at a safe distance, on the pile of yellow crates on the headland, but did not speak directly to the group.

Filming the celebrity ordeal, which was picked up by helicopters from Surfer’s Paradise in the early hours of the morning, lasted more than four hours, with helicopters previously seen circling the National Park for a significant period of time.

The celebrities then had to complete a series of challenges in the jungle, with the three losers being bundled into a vintage car that ITV invented the Cocko Van.

Meanwhile, the victorious duo was put into the newly introduced Escape Car and offered a glass of soda.

The winners of the mission will be welcomed to the camp with comfortable mattresses, while the other three members of the team will have to sleep in the usual beds.

They will then be joined by a second group of celebrities who will complete similar tasks: internet sensation Angry Ginge, 25, Ozzy Osbourne’s son Jack, 40, Emmerdale star Lisa Riley, 49, former lioness Alex Scott, 41, and Ruby Wax, 72.

It was a show that sparked controversy among viewers over the years, with controversial names such as Nigel Farage and Matt Hancock as star signings.

But last year I’m a Celebrity opted for a more tame cast, including Coleen Rooney and McFly frontman Danny Jones as the most famous faces after a strict ‘no politicians’ rule was implemented.

All in all it was a year of little to no drama.

But now, in what will be the ‘toughest’ year yet, ITV bosses have introduced new measures to ensure celebs ‘fight more’, ‘earn a living’ and ‘don’t sit in the shadow’.

Celebrities can be ‘kept on guard’ by removing the ‘luxury item’ feature where loved ones send home comforts such as pillows bearing their family’s faces.

Instead, celebrities can win a framed photo of someone of their choice and win it during a challenge.

Olly Nash, the show’s executive producer, told the Daily Mail: ‘It’s a tough and grueling show and there’s nothing wrong with driving to that house.

‘We need to see more celebrities making a living, that’s the most important thing.

‘More celebrities are taking part in the trials than ever before, so it’s more of a competition.

‘Last year we had a positive, happy squad who all came together and had a good time. ‘This year they will have to compete more, win more and play a bigger role in camp.

‘They will no longer just be able to sit on the beds in the back, they will have to endure hardships and face the music.

‘And there are a few celebrities at this year’s camp who are sure to be disturbed when they’re hungry or sleep deprived.’

A new feature called the Getaway Car was introduced at the launch show this year.

The top 10 celebrities are divided into two groups; The first two people in each group to complete a series of challenges, including running through fish guts, are rewarded with a seat in the Getaway Car with a glass of soda to take them to camp.

Later at the camp, they welcome more comfortable beds with mattresses.

Meanwhile, the remaining three people from each group Traveling in a less desirable vehicle called the ‘Coco van’.

Pythons are said to have invaded the I’m A Celebrity jungle, with producers admitting they “saw more snakes at camp than in other years”, Mr Nash said.

He added: ‘I saw more snakes during this building phase than I have ever seen before; huge, huge pythons were almost as tall as this log.

‘I’ve seen a lot of snakes in the last two weeks with six or seven of them out there, and while there are people here, it’s rare because they usually disperse as people build the camp.’

It comes after the Mail revealed a new rule introduced 25 years later using the same format: if a celebrity has been brought to two consecutive hearings, they will be exempt from the next public vote.

Fans are happy with this change after the situation spiraled out of control last year when Dean McCullough was voted out for seven consecutive Bushtucker Trials.

Bosses at the channel have complied and now all the celebs will have the chance to take part in the trials, earn stars for the camp and in turn win the public vote – but bosses will make it difficult when it comes to daily life in the camp.

For example, if a contestant wants to take a bath, two campmates must ride a tandem bike to pump out the water, leaving less room for contestants to ‘sink into the shadows’.
