I’m Ready To Do Item Numbers As I Love Dancing: Shreya Sharma

Shreya Sharma featured in the popular dance number ‘Pallo Latke’ in the Telugu movie Jatadhara and this brought her into the limelight. She is open to doing item numbers because she enjoys dancing. Shreya, who tasted success with her debut film Mastiii 4, is waiting for Mr. and Mrs. Grey, along with Vivek Oberoi, Nithya Menon and Ashish Vidyarthi. He is far from a traditional newcomer.
DC caught up with Sharma, who traced the challenges and growth of his career by candidly answering some questions.
Did you ever feel uncomfortable because Mastiii 4 is a comedy aimed at adults?
Not even once. The director, his wife and their families were around. There are double meaning jokes in the movie but everything stays within limits. Despite common perceptions of the genre, I saw this as an opportunity to make my debut in a successful franchise featuring actors I have admired for years (Riteish Deshmukh, Vivek Oberoi, Aftab Shivdasani, Nargis Fakhri and Arshad Warsi).
What was your experience working with well-known male actors?
I was overwhelmed on the first day because I grew up watching them – Riteish sir, Genelia sir, Aftab sir, Vivek sir. But everyone is very friendly, mischievous and good-hearted. Their families were on set, so it was very comfortable.
What do you think of adult/sexual comedy?
There’s a fine line between embarrassing and funny. Our director and actors maintained this line very well. My parents also watched the movie and even brought my father to tears during a wedding scene. These days the reels themselves have more content than the movies themselves. I believe Masti movies are more than adult comedies; they also carry emotion and unforgettable moments. For me, being on such a big screen was an opportunity worth embracing with all my heart.
What swear words did you learn on set? Your favorite person?
I don’t really use swear words, but “duck!” I say. too much. My mother scolded me for this.
Have men looked at you? Have you ever had a relationship?
I had crushes as a senior in college but was never in a serious relationship. When I moved to Mumbai to become an actor, I didn’t want marriage negotiations.
Do you think today’s generation has commitment phobia?
I think I have some self-control. But independence has made women smarter about choices. I want to start a family one day; two children, two dogs, a house overlooking the sea and a tall husband.
What qualities do you want in a partner?
At least 6 feet tall, Dirty (not clean shaven) Intelligent and knowledgeable about the world, cinema, culture, politics. Someone who can teach me about finance, savings and crypto. Appearance is not as important as brain and speech.
You look very seductive in the movie. What is your view on taking up glamorous roles?
As an actor you have to have thick skin. I ask myself whether a role excites me. Pallo Latke was offered as an item number one and I wondered if I should do it this early in my career – but it rose to number 1 and I’m glad I did it. Cinema should make people feel something.
Will you be doing item numbers in the future?
100%. Especially in a big movie like Pushpa. I’m putting this out there!
Tell us about your Telugu debut.
Jatadhara was my Telugu debut featuring Pallo Latke.
Has your first movie, “Mr. and Mrs. Gray,” been released yet?
My first full film Mr and Mrs Gray is a mystery mystery starring Nithya Menon sir, Vivek Oberoi sir and Ashish Vidyarthi sir. It’s a murder mystery and my character is something I can’t reveal yet. I’m excited for people to see a different side of me.
If you got offers from South and Bollywood at the same time, which one would you choose?
It totally depends on the scenario and the character. Screen space doesn’t matter; What the character does in the story is important.
What are you working on right now?
I am auditioning for multiple films, learning Telugu and doing acting workshops with Neeraj Kabi sir and others. I want to leave no stone unturned.
