Growing concerns over Imran Khan’s health and rumors circulating about his death prompted Pakistani authorities to invoke Article 144 in Islamabad and Rawalpindi.
According to local media reports, Deputy Commissioner Dr. The order, signed by Hassan Waqar Cheema, makes Section 144 of the Code of Criminal Procedure (Punjab Amendment) Act, 2024 valid for three days from December 1 to 3.
The directive, dated December 1, notes “an imminent threat within the borders of Rawalpindi District” and says the restrictions are aimed at protecting “public safety, security, peace and tranquility”.
Imran Khan’s Health Update
Last week, officials at Rawalpindi’s Adiala prison said Imran Khan had not been transferred from prison and that he was in “good health”.

What Do PTI Leaders Demand?
The prison authorities’ statement comes at a time when PTI is demanding clarification on rumors regarding Imran Khan’s condition and urging authorities to arrange a meeting between the PTI founder and his family.
The party’s demand came after Imran Khan’s sisters were not allowed to meet him in recent weeks, leading to questions about his whereabouts.
According to IANS, PTI leader Asad Qaiser told Dawn, one of Pakistan’s leading newspapers, that opposition MPs in both houses of parliament will gather outside the IHC before marching to Adiala prison.
“Since the IHC did not implement its decision and the Adiala prison administration was not willing to implement the court orders, it was decided to hold a protest,” he said.
The conflict intensified last week when the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Prime Minister staged a sit-in protest outside the Adiala prison after being denied an eighth meeting with Khan.
