India, Egypt deepen anti-terror ties amid drone, AI threats

The two countries, both Brics members, expressed concern over the increasing use of unmanned aerial vehicles, unmanned aerial vehicles and artificial intelligence in terrorist activities at the fifth meeting of the Joint Working Group on Counterterrorism held in New Delhi this week, an official said.

The official added that Egypt reiterates its solidarity with India against all forms of terrorism aimed at undermining the security and stability of the country.
The meeting was chaired by senior officials from the Indian ministry of external affairs (MEA) and the Egyptian foreign ministry, as well as representatives of security agencies from both countries.
“India and Egypt emphasized the importance of bilateral cooperation in the fight against terrorism, reflecting the spirit of the India-Egypt Strategic Partnership,” MEA said in a statement after the meeting. he said. “They unequivocally and strongly condemned all forms and manifestations of terrorism, including cross-border terrorism, reaffirmed the principle of zero tolerance towards terrorism and reiterated that terrorism should not be associated with any religion, nationality, civilization or ethnic group.”
The two sides strongly condemned the terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir on April 22, 2025 and the terrorist incident near the Red Fort in New Delhi on November 10, 2025, saying “all those involved in terrorist activities and their support must be held accountable and brought to justice.” While India and Egypt have long cooperated on counter-terrorism, Cairo has been pursuing an aggressive strategy against terrorism and extremism.

Both sides said the fight against terrorism requires sustained and coordinated action. The official said they renewed their determination to strengthen multilateral cooperation in the fight against terrorism at the United Nations, Brics, Financial Action Task Force and Global Counterterrorism Forum, among other platforms.
The two countries also exchanged views on enhancing the effectiveness of the Global Counterterrorism Forum and reiterated support for the early adoption of the UN Comprehensive Convention on International Terrorism.
