India emerging as global manufacturing hub, shift from services underway: Jyotiraditya Scindia

New Delhi: India is transitioning from a service-oriented economy to a global product manufacturing hub supported by government programs that has already created 36,000 jobs and generated significant exports, Communications Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia said on Wednesday.

Speaking at the theme launch of the 10th edition of the Indian Mobile Congress (IMC), scheduled to be held in New Delhi between October 7-10, Scindia said India should look beyond its domestic market and focus on taking its innovations, technologies and standards to the world. “Two days ago, we reviewed the Bharat 6G Alliance. The seven working groups are contributing across different sectors and together they will help position India within the framework of global 6G standards,” he said.

Minister of State for Communications Chandra Sekhar Pemmasani said India had “lost the bus” in 4G deployment but was determined to play a leading role in shaping global 6G standards.
