India Faces Risk of $15K Visa Bonds

Haydarabad: Indian travelers who go to the United States may soon pay for high visa bonds for temporary work (B1) and tourist (B2) visas. This has determined the excessive rates of visa by following the application of visa bonds up to $ 15,000 to travelers from Malawi and Zambia. India can be the next on the list.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that they have been exposed to Visa bonds based on the excessive rates of B1 and B2 of Malawi and Zambia, and as specified in the FY 2023 overstay report of the Ministry of Internal Security.

India was at the beginning of the visa list of students and exchange visitors and 7,081 people could not leave time. In the “other classes” category, India recorded the highest number of exaggeration and 3,822 suspicious cases.

The same report ranked eighth among the countries with the highest number of B1 and B2 visas in India.

Experts believe that the implementation of high visa bonds is a political movement that aims to punish countries that are not considered positive by the US. In particular, there was some of the numbers recorded by other countries, where Malawi and Zambia were suspected of only 237 and 388 respectively.

Robert S. McCaw, Director of the American-Islamic Relations Council (CAIR), criticized the policy and said, “This is not about national security, but to armed the migration policy for vulnerable visitors, to punish unjust countries and to turn America’s matte matte into a payment wall.

Visa bonds are reimbursement deposits collected from visa applicants and visa applicants, to enable them to leave the country before their expiry of their visas. These amounts are returned when the visitor leaves the US within the permitted time.

Dinesh M., an Indian immigrant advisor based in Haydarabad, warned that the inclusion of Visa Bond program can significantly increase travel costs for Indian families, students and businessmen. “If 15,000 dollars are applied, people will have to put aside more than 13 RS as a security bond to visit the country – and this is separate from travel and other expenses,” he said.

The authority added that the movement may be affected by the restrictive attitude of the US administration on immigration. “They can apply visa bonds with India’s tense relations with the United States and limit the number of people visiting the states, Dineh said.
