India initiates anti-dumping probe into import of polyethylene from 6 countries

New Delhi, 4 July (PTI) Ministry of Commerce, Kol DGTR, India’s Chemicals and Petrochemicals Association’s complaints following the complaint of Kuwait, Malaysia, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia against the import of anti-Damping against polyethylene imports.
The applicant claimed that the industry was affected by the imports of Linear density polyethylene (LLDPE).
First of all, the packaging films of the plastic processing industry are used in raw materials to make various products such as profiles, wire and cable.
According to DGTR’s notification, the applicant provided evidence of the injuries that the domestic industry has been exposed to due to the shedding imports.
“Authority is launching an anti-dumping investigation to determine the existence, degree and effect of the damage.” He said.
If it is found that the casting causes material injury in domestic players, DGTR will propose the application of the tax.
The Ministry of Finance makes a final decision to impose the task.
Anti-dumping probes are carried out by countries to determine whether domestic industries have been injured due to the increase in cheap imports.
As a counter precaution, they impose these tasks under the multilateral regime of the Geneva -based World Trade Organization (WTO). The task aims to provide fair trade practices for domestic producers against foreign producers and exporters and to create a flat playground.
India and these countries are members of the WTO.
India has applied anti-dumping tasks to various products to deal with cheap imports from various countries, including China.
