India offers ‘strong support’ to Brazil for COP30, says satisfied with many outcomes from summit

In an official statement, India expressed gratitude for the “High Level Statement” presented at the Closing General Assembly of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) COP30 held in Balem on Saturday, 22 November 2025.

“India thanked the Presidency for providing space to discuss Unilateral Trade Restrictive Climate Measures. These measures increasingly affect all developing countries and violate the principles of equality and CBDR-RC enshrined in the agreement and the Paris Agreement.”

New Delhi stressed that these issues cannot continue to be swept under the carpet. It was stated that the parties have made a start here to reverse this trend.

Reiterating India’s principled approach to climate action, the statement called for ensuring that the burden of Mitigating Climate Change is not placed on those least responsible for causing the problem.

“It was emphasized that more global support is needed for vulnerable populations, the vast majority of whom are in the global South, to protect themselves from the increasing effects of climate change,” the statement said.

India has reaffirmed its unwavering commitment to science-based and equitable climate action. It was observed that India remains committed to a global order that is rules-based, egalitarian and respectful of national sovereignty.

“In addition, the nation is committed to working with all parties to ensure that the climate goal is inclusive, fair and equitable,” he said.

The statement confirmed India’s support and gratitude to Brazil and the international community on the road ahead.

He called on all parties to make joint efforts to ensure that the path out of Belem leads to a future defined by justice, solidarity and shared prosperity for all.

Negotiators from 194 countries met here for the UNFCCC’s annual Conference of the Parties (COP). The COP30 summit took place from 10 to 21 November in Belem, Brazil, in the Amazon region.

The talks, which were interrupted by a massive fire that broke out in the main hall of COP30 on November 20 and caused non-burn injuries to 27 people, were extended until Saturday.
