South Africa returns to Eden Gardens after a 15-year absence. Their last visit resulted in an innings defeat and they faced another loss in 2004 as well. They achieved victory in the first Test match in Kolkata in 1996. However, they have not won a Test series in India since 2000 and have not won a Test win on Indian soil since 2010. During their last visit, India made a whitewash against them.
