Indian Institute of Space Science and Technology researchers gear up to study seeds that were sent to space

Group captain Shubhanshu Shukla and the rest of the Axiom-4 crew was returning to Earth on Tuesday, the Indian Space Science and Technology Institute (IIT), the high profile mission of the International Space Station (ISS) is preparing for post-flight seeds.

According to IIST sources, post -flight studies will be carried out in cooperation with Kerala Agriculture University (Kau), which releases the seeds for the project.

Jyothi and Uma rice types, Kanakamani (horse gram), vellani vijay (tomato), thilakathara (sesame) and soory (brinjal/eggplant) seeds were sent to ISS under the ‘crop seeds on ISS’.

IIST officials said that the seeds expect the seeds to reach Thiruvananthapuram within a few days.

The biology burden consisted of dry seeds that were packaged and exposed to the micro gravity conditions in ISS. When it returns to the world, the examples directed to space will be enlarged to evaluate the unique effects of micro -settlement on the growth and yield parameters and how it emerges in growth.

Comparative studies will be carried out using three sample sets under different conditions.

The ‘Product Seeds in ISS’ project was a very level memorandum between the ISRO and the European Space Agency, ISRO’s Human Space Fly Center (HSFC) and IIST and IIST and Kau.
