Indian national gets 14 years in jail for sexually assaulting minor girl in Singapore

An Indian citizen was sentenced to prison for more than 14 years in Singapore on Thursday, July 31, 2025.
The 58 -year -old Ramalingam Selvasekaran, who was sentenced by the Supreme Court of Singapore, will not be pressed because it is older than 50 years. However, 14 years, three months and two weeks of penalties are sentenced to additional imprisonment instead of 15 strokes.
After a hearing he represented him, on July 7, all of the three accusations were found guilty of one number rape and two humility anger.
During the conviction arguments on July 30, Ramalingam continued his innocence and said he would be attractive to his conviction.
After being sentenced to appeal and giving 80,000 SGDs, he negotiated with the judge about bail conditions.
Justice Aidan XU rejected Ramalingam’s electronic label (usually dependent on his leg to monitor a convicted person’s movement) and rejected his desire to give up regular check-in in the Police Canton Complex.
Ramalingam also identified the fate of various hearing exhibitions, while the public assistant Susanna Yim objected to the SGD8 Girl SGD8 proposal to return in cash.
“SGD8 was taken from my shop,” he said. The judge told the prosecution to examine the issue.
Crimes took place on 28 October 2021 at the service store in the Jurong West on the west coast of Singapore, around 16.50 and about 5.05. The girl visited her store and then returned to buy ice cream that day.
Ramalingam, who was 55 years old at the time, was accused of taking her to the inner boundaries of her shop to touch her and have her oral sex.
After the attacks, the girl asked for help from the passing person.
At the end of the hearing on January 16, Ramalingam argued that the girl’s statement should not be believed.
He said it was incredible for him to go to a stranger for help when he could go to someone he knew.
After the incident, he suspected that he had no police camera footage.
He added that he could not rape the victim because he suffered from erectil dysfunction and stated that he was not in his DNA’s body.
On July 7, while convicting Ramalingam, Justice Xu said that the case of the prosecution was founded beyond a reasonable suspicion.
The judge could not find a significant weakness in the girl’s explaining the events.
Singapore Daily, “after the first harassment action did not escape or did not resist the attacks or not informing his grandfather, especially young and still young and not mature,” he was explained enough. ” He said.
Justice Xu said Ramalingam had wrapped the victim and kissed the victim in his previous statements to the police.
Judge said Ramalingam’s subsequent statements that rejected the commission of the crimes were only an attempt to re -exit because they accepted.
Justice XU said he didn’t weaken the evidence of the lack of camera images.
Although there was no disagreement that Ramalingam suffers from erectile dysfunction, the judge said that the prosecution of the prosecution of the expert witness was able to rape the verbal rape.
The fact that Ramalingam’s DNA was not in the victim was the most neutral and did not weaken his evidence that the girl had been sexually assaulted.
