India’s ‘Cyprus’ Reply To Turkey As President Erdogan Raises Kashmir At UN | India News

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan recently brought up the problem of Kashmir at the United Nations General Assembly, but was prepared with coconut. While Türkiye brought the Kashmir issue to the agenda, the Indian Cyprus reminded the Erdogan government.
MEA spokesman Randhir Jasiwal made clear that there is no scope for any third -party role or mediation in Kashmir, while Foreign Minister Dr. S Jaishankar discussed the Cyprus problem during the meeting with the country’s foreign minister. “The Minister of Foreign Affairs met with the Cyprus Minister of Foreign Affairs in relation to Northern Cyprus. The Mea spokesman also expressed a comprehensive and lasting settlement support for Northern Cyprus under India’s United Nations framework.

Cyprus was a country, but in 1974, a conflict began. A group in Cyprus tried to unite the island with Greece, and in response, Türkiye sent its army to the north of Cyprus, saying that it protected the Turkish Cypriots living there. Since then, the island has been divided into two: it has been ruled by the Southern Greek Cypriots and is internationally known as the Republic of Cyprus, is controlled by Northern Cyprus and is supported by Türkiye, but not recognized by the rest of the world. Because of this division, the northern part is considered a controversial region.
