Porepunkah police shooting fugitive shot dead after seven months on the run

In the days following the shooting, Police Commissioner Mike Bush acknowledged that Freeman, a known survival expert, knew the terrain better than the officers who searched for him.

Shortly after his disappearance, police posted a $1 million reward for information leading to the fugitive’s arrest.
