Infosys Q4 results 2026: Headcount falls by 8,400 even as operating profits jump 13.6% YoY

IT services giant Infosys’ headcount fell by 8,440 in the quarter ending March 31, 2026, compared to the previous quarter, according to the company’s quarterly earnings report released on Thursday. Although the Sales and Support team witnessed a very small addition, the lion’s share of the reduced workforce consisted of software professionals.

The total number of employees in the 4th quarter of FY26 was 328,594. Meanwhile, the workforce increased by 5,000-odd employees year-on-year in FY26. The company’s trailing twelve months (LTM) attrition rate increased from 12.3% in Q3 to 12.6% in Q4 FY26. Approximately 40 percent of the workforce consists of women.

Decreasing Number of Employees at Infosys

Speaking at the company’s earnings conference call, Infosys CFO Jayesh Sanghrajka said: “Our headcount has decreased sequentially, but it’s up 5,000 people year-on-year. There’s always seasonality on a quarterly basis. Headcount is a function of usage and the volumes we’re seeing. Volumes were softer this quarter, plus those new to the system had to be taken into account.”

Among its peers, Tech Mahindra on Wednesday reported a fall in headcount of 1,993 in the January-March quarter. Meanwhile, Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) reported an increase in headcount by 2,356 in Q4, HCLTech added 802 employees and Wipro’s headcount increased marginally by 135 sequentially in Q4.
