Injured hiker trapped days after woman’s fatal fall

A man who fell from a cliff north of Brisbane has died in hospital, three days after his friend died in the same incident.
A woman identified as Lorielle Georgina was pronounced dead on Mount Beerwah after she fell while hiking on Sunday, and Jack Thatcher was taken to Sunshine Coast University Hospital in a critical condition.
Police confirmed on Wednesday that he died from his injuries.
Two 18-year-olds had fallen 60 to 90 meters off the footpath before 10.30am on March 15, and police suspected slippery conditions might be to blame.
Search and rescue teams descended to the cliff to save the hikers.
The Beerwah Mountain road was closed to the public following heavy rains on the Sunshine Coast.
Beerwah Mountain is the highest peak in the Glasshouse Mountains National Park and its peak is 556 metres.
Emergency services returned to the same trail on Wednesday to rescue an injured hiker.
Two fire crews and paramedics arrived at the scene around 7am on Wednesday after receiving a call that two hikers needed to be rescued.
One hiker was injured and the other hiker remained with them.
