Maoists to Surrender in Large Numbers

Hyderabad: Amid intensified operations by security forces to stop Maoist activities, a large group of Maoist leaders and cadres are preparing to surrender before the Telangana Police. According to reports, around 30 members of the outlawed group are expected to lay down their weapons on Saturday. These include key names like banned CPI (Maoist) TG State Committee members Koyyada Sambayya alias Azad and Appasi Narayana alias Ramesh.

A press conference is planned at the DGP office in Hyderabad, where officials are expected to officially announce the surrenders.

This development comes on the heels of two major encounters in the Maredumilli forests in Alluri Sitharamaraju district of neighboring Andhra Pradesh. The encounters resulted in the death of around 12 Maoists, including top commander Madvi Hidma, one of the most wanted rebel leaders, who was reportedly involved in the killing of around 300 security personnel. His wife was among the dead.

Following the latest operations, the police reiterated their call for Maoist cadres to surrender and provided support to those who wanted to abandon violence and join the mainstream.
