Chilling images showed the moment 100 Russian soldiers were destroyed in the Ukrainian attack. A Ukrainian commander said one of the attacks on Wednesday night targeted a Russian drone pilot training facility in the occupied town of Snizhne, reportedly killing at least 65 students and one instructor.
President Volodymyr Zelensky later said additional strikes hit a Russian security service headquarters and an air defense system in occupied Kherson, causing around 100 Russian casualties, both killed and wounded. Zelensky said: “Russia’s losses, thanks to this operation alone, amount to about 100 invaders killed and wounded. Russians must feel that they must put an end to this war.”
He has promised more strikes deep into Putin’s territory if the Kremlin refuses to talk peace. He added: “Ukraine’s medium and long-term sanctions will continue to work.”
A Telegram channel called Ukrainian Context described the attack as a “carpet bombing” of the FSB headquarters in the Kherson region.
“Result: around 100 Russians killed and wounded. The operation was carried out by the SBU’s Alpha unit. Simply Armageddon.”
Meanwhile, an expert has suggested that Ukraine’s recent increase in long-range drone attacks against Russia points to a shift in the war increasingly in Kiev’s favor.
Nearly 600 Ukrainian drones were launched across Russia on Sunday, killing four people, in what President Volodymyr Zelensky described as a “completely justified” retaliation against Moscow’s ongoing attacks on Ukraine.
The Russian defense ministry reported that air defense intercepted 556 UAVs during the night and 30 after sunrise. The operation, which reached up to 700 miles from the Ukrainian border, was among Ukraine’s largest drone strikes of the war and reportedly attacked military and infrastructure facilities, including a Russian naval ship.
Keir Giles, Russia analyst at Chatham House, said: Daily MailHe said: “Drone strikes on Russia alone will not win the war, but they are one of many indicators that the advantage in the war is now turning in Ukraine’s favor.
“Ukraine is exploiting the fact that Russia is a big place, and it is not possible to meaningfully defend everything in Russia. Even if Russia devoted as much effort and resources to air defense as Ukraine has had to do under relentless Russian bombardment, they still would not be able to protect all of the vital facilities that Ukraine is currently targeting.”
