Trump Denounces White House Shooting, Says ‘Suspect Is From Hellhole Afghanistan’ | World News

US President Donald Trump condemned the shooting of two National Guard soldiers near the White House, calling the act terrorism and a crime against humanity. Briefing the media, Trump said that the detained suspect was a foreigner who came from Afghanistan by air transport in 2021 and described the country as a “hell hole.”
“This is a disgusting attack, an act of evil, an act of hatred, an act of terrorism. It is a crime against our entire nation. It is a crime against humanity,” he said.
Trump confirmed that the Afghan suspect is in custody.
“I can confirm tonight that the Department of Homeland Security is confident, based on the best information available, that the suspect in custody is an alien who entered our country from Afghanistan,” Trump said.

On Thursday, U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) announced an indefinite halt to all immigration proceedings against Afghan citizens, effective immediately.
In a previous post on Truth Social, Trump expressed his support for the National Guard and said he had ordered 500 more Guard personnel to be sent to Washington following the attack. He referred to the gunman as an “animal” and said he would “pay a very heavy price.”
“The animal that shot two National Guardsmen, both of whom were seriously injured, and is currently being treated in two separate hospitals, is also seriously injured, but no matter what, it will pay a very heavy price,” he wrote.
He added: “God bless our Great National Guard and our entire Military and Law Enforcement. These are truly Great Men. I, as the President of the United States, and all those connected with the Office of the President, stand with you!”
The shooting occurred just a few blocks from the White House on Wednesday afternoon and was described by authorities as an intentional attack. FBI Director Kash Patel and Washington Mayor Muriel Bowser said that both soldiers were in critical condition in the hospital.
