Inside the celebrity homes with bizarre features that prove stars have more money than sense

Some of the most unique and extravagant celebrity homes are the ones where it’s clear no expense has been spared.

Whether it’s the size of the mansion or the quirky amenities, these are homes that scream money.

While some of the least desirable residences of the rich and famous may be cluttered or ‘too normal’, these homes are extreme and beyond the reach of the average person.

Here, the Daily Mail takes a look at some of the swankiest celebrity homes, including a UFO-style love nest (with its own nightclub, of course) and a luxury pad with its own lazy river, water park and beach access.

Celine Dion’s water park house, complete with lazy river

Imagine having a water park and a lazy river in your backyard.

For world-famous singer Celine Dion, this dream was a reality that she once dreamed together with her late husband René Angélil.

In 2010, Dion and Angélil built their 11,000-square-foot dream home on Florida’s Jupiter Island.

The opulent space included a 500,000-gallon water park with a winding waterslide.

The stunning property also featured three swimming pools and a tennis court, as well as spacious guest rooms and pavilions for friends and relatives.

Other amenities included a golf simulator, a theater and a 100-foot private beach.

The main house had five bedrooms with five ensuite bathrooms, a formal living room with a vaulted ceiling, a media room, an elevator, and two kitchens.

There were also two four-bedroom guest houses and a pool house, bringing the property’s total to 13 bedrooms and 14 bathrooms.

Dion, 57, sold the mansion to a mystery buyer for $38.5 million in 2017, a year after Angélil died at age 73 following a battle with throat cancer.

The Queen of Versailles’s vast mansion in Florida

Nothing screams money more than the sprawling Florida mansion owned by Jackie Siegel, the self-proclaimed Queen of Versailles.

Based on the upper floors of France’s Palace of Versailles and the Paris Hotel in Las Vegas, his massive home has 14 bedrooms, 30 bathrooms, five kitchens and an event hall that can seat 150 people.

Spanning a massive 90,000 square feet, the house is thought to be one of the largest single-family homes in the country and is said to have cost $100 million to build.

Siegel, along with her late husband David Siegel, began construction on the house 22 years ago, and construction is still ongoing.

Work on the property came to a halt in 2009, when it was just over half completed, due to the financial difficulties David faced in his business due to the 2007-2008 financial crisis.

The mega-mansion was later put up for sale for $65 million and caused a sensation following the release of the documentary The Queen of Versailles in 2012.

Siegel’s husband’s business had stabilized in 2013, and he was able to purchase the property outright and continue working on it.

But estimated completion dates have come and gone over the years. In 2013, it was said that it would be completed in 2016, but it was later postponed to 2020.

John Travolta’s private track

Plane enthusiast John Travolta’s Florida home comes complete with its own private runway, allowing him to eliminate those pesky airport transfers.

The 71-year-old Grease actor purchased the luxury Ocala pad with his late wife, Kelly Preston, for $3.5 million in 2001.

Together, they became the first to buy a house on the country’s only private airstrip, where Travolta was able to fly his old Qantas Airways Boeing 707 jet plane for a time.

‘It was always John’s dream to have planes in his front yard – to practically be able to dock at the house – so that when you wanted to go for dinner, all you had to do was walk out the door, get on the plane and speed away, Preston told Architectural Digest in 2014.

‘And we go in and out often. Last year, Johnny was commuting to work every day while shooting a movie in Tampa.

‘Every night we would ride in the golf cart with the kids, watch it land and bring Johnny home as the plane took off. It was very exciting.’

Besides the track, the home spans approximately 7,500 square feet with five bedrooms and seven bathrooms.

Travolta put the house up for sale in September for $10 million.

Play village for Kim Kardashian’s children

Kim Kardashian announced that she built an elaborate play village for her four children in 2021.

The Skims businesswoman created a kid-friendly shopping mall in the backyard of her $60 million mansion in Calabasas, complete with a mini KKW Beauty boutique, fire station, diner and even an ATM.

Kardashian, 45, also made sure the village, called Lil Hidden Hills, was as realistic as possible and included working streetlights and running water.

Naomi Campbell’s Russian spaceship love

A futuristic, UFO-like mansion was built for Naomi Campbell in a Russian forest by her ex-boyfriend Vladislav Doronin.

Designed by Iraqi-British architect Zaha Hadid, the 35,520-square-foot house was built in an exclusive suburb of Moscow and featured its own nightclub.

According to Russian Hello, the house had its own spa, 20-meter swimming pool, gym, club and Japanese garden.

The original design was scribbled on the back of a napkin during the couple’s four-year relationship and is thought to have been designed as a wedding gift for the supermodel before Doronin later split.

The couple were together between 2008 and 2012, when Campbell, now 55, was frequently seen in the Russian capital.

Most of the house is buried underground, but the tower, which is 35 meters above the ground and offers views of the trees, includes a bedroom and an en-suite bathroom.

Reports claim that the love nest cost $140 million to build.
