No arrests have been made so far. A Nottinghamshire Police spokesman said: “Emergency services were called to George Street at 5.51pm after a 16-year-old boy suffered two stab wounds.”
“He was intervened at the scene by paramedics and taken to the hospital by ambulance. It was assessed that the injured person was not life-threatening or life-threatening, and his family was informed.
“The investigation into what happened is ongoing and any additional witnesses are asked to call 101 or Crimestoppers quoting incident number 556 of 14 January 2026.”
The stabbing follows a year in which Nottinghamshire police recorded a significant number of knife seizures, leading to a decline in knife crime. The force’s knife crime squad seized a total of 224 weapons and arrested 150 people in 2025.
Weapons were seized as a result of targeted patrols throughout the city. This led to the discovery of numerous knives that would otherwise have remained hidden.
