Insider reveals whether Harry and Meghan told Palace about Jordan trip | Royal | News

The couple stepped down from royal duties in early 2020, but have taken several trips that have been compared to royal visits and tours because they are similar in nature. The Sussexes are often criticized for the timing of their public appearances, with many appearing to clash with important events for the Royal Family.

However, a Sussex official confirmed that Buckingham Palace had been briefed ahead of the two-day trip to Jordan. When asked whether the Palace had been informed about the humanitarian trip, they said: “Our work programs are organized separately and independently, but as a courtesy, yes they were informed.”

Over the next two days, Harry, 41, and Meghan, 44, are expected to meet with Jordanian leaders and senior health officials.

The couple are expected to engage with WHO teams and visit frontline health and mental health programmes, as well as meeting World Central Kitchen staff who are coordinating food aid from Amman to Gaza.

The couple’s itinerary also includes visiting the youth center of social development organization Questscope and learning from young people participating in creative and healthy living programs.

When the couple arrived, British Ambassador to Jordan Philip Hall thanked Meghan and Harry for their trip to the Middle East.

“Your visit, your support and your recognition of the efforts made here by the United Nations, of course the World Health Organisation, the government of Jordan and others are hugely appreciated,” Mr Hall said.

During the couple’s last international visit, a four-day trip to Colombia in August 2024, they visited a school in the capital Bogota to talk to young people about the impact of social media.

Six-year-old Prince Archie and four-year-old Princess Lilibet are not thought to be traveling with their parents.
