International Customs Day celebrated – The Hindu

Commissionerate of Customs (Preventive) Kochi and Customs House, Kochi, celebrated International Customs Day on Sunday, February 15, with the theme “Customs vigilantly and resolutely protect society”.

While Kerala High Court Justice S. Easwaran was the chief guest, actor Shwetha Menon, who is also the president of AMMA, was also the guest of honour. In his speech, Mr. Easwaran highlighted the important role of Indian Customs in trade facilitation and enforcement while ensuring transparent procedures and respect for taxpayer rights within the constitutional framework.

Deputy Commissioner of Customs Roy Varghese, who won the 2026 World Customs Organization Certificate of Merit Award, was honored at the event. Others who spoke included Kochi Customs House Commissioner Gurkaran Singh Bains and Kochi Customs (Preventive) Commissioner T. Tiju.
