Investigations underway after Perth man dies in Bali detention centre

Investigations are continuing into how a Perth man died while in custody in Bali on Friday.

Cameron Hughes, 39, was reportedly taken to an immigration detention center on Friday, accused of violating visa conditions after separating from his wife.

Hughes has lived in Indonesia for more than 15 years and shares an eight-year-old son with his former partner.

9 News Perth reported that he was taken into custody on Friday and was found unconscious and unresponsive in his cell hours later.

Local authorities are investigating whether he had a heart attack or harmed himself.
