IPL 2026 points table: RCB start title defence with win, climb to top of table
The IPL 2026 season got off to a flying start as Royal Challengers Bengaluru launched their campaign with a commanding six-wicket win against Sunrisers Hyderabad at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium on Saturday, climbing to the top of the points table.
Virat Kohli set the tone early alongside local favorite Devdutt Padikkal by leading from the front in the 202-run chase. The duo ensured the required rate remained firmly under control as RCB rose to 76/1 in the powerplay and comfortably completed the chase in just 15.4 overs.
Earlier, after starting the batting, SRH fell to 29/3 in the powerplay with IPL debutant Jacob Duffy batting three overs. A resilient stance, bolstered by late order contributions from stand-in captain Ishan Kishan and Heinrich Klaasen, helped the visitors bounce back for the 201/9 season.
