Melania Trump delivers ‘dystopian’ speech to troops sparking meltdown

Melania Trump told soldiers to prepare for a brave new world full of robots on the battlefield in a speech described as ‘dystopian’ by critics.
The first lady was speaking to military personnel and their families at Marine Corps Air Station New River in Jacksonville, North Carolina, on Wednesday.
Melania said artificial intelligence represents the most profound shift in warfare since the creation of nuclear weapons and warned that the technology race is not one the United States can afford to lose to its rivals.
‘Artificial intelligence is taking America’s military into a new era. We are rapidly moving from human operators to human supervisors,” Melania said.
‘The transition from soldiers to machines is already underway. Autonomous helicopters, swarm drones and reconnaissance planes are here now. Fighterless jets and autonomous bombers are on the way.
‘To win the AI war, we must educate our next generation, because it is America’s students who will lead the Marine Corps in the future.’
The disturbing theme sparked an internet meltdown; People complained that it wasn’t fair to tell troops they would be replaced by robots.
‘Is this conversation supposed to be dystopian?’ one user commented.
Another posted ‘Trailer for new Terminator spin-off’ on X.

Melania has positioned herself as a spearhead of her husband Donald’s AI push, notably leading the White House AI Task Force in September.
In this speech, he highlighted the benefits of technology, including driverless taxis, robot-assisted surgeries and drones.
He also emphasized the need to educate the country’s youth to protect against dangers; Those ideas were echoed in his speech at New River on Wednesday.
‘Technology is changing the art of war,’ said the First Lady. ‘Artificial intelligence will transform warfare more profoundly than any technology since nuclear weapons.
‘The most important change will be speed. Speed in arming, decision-making, detection, attack and defense. AI will be at the forefront of warfare and is already playing a meaningful role on the battlefield.
‘Of course, the Marine Corps will always play the most critical role in achieving mission success.’
Many people praised Melania for highlighting the importance of technology.
“He is so underrated,” one person commented about X.
Another agreed that the First Lady said ‘speed changes everything.’
A third user X wrote: ‘Classy move by our stunning First Lady. We honor the 250-year legacy of the USMC as the world’s finest fighting force. Semper Fi.’
The Army has already deployed autonomous systems such as the MQ-9 Reaper drone used in reconnaissance missions and the unmanned K-MAX helicopter deployed in Afghanistan to deliver supplies to prevent roadside risks from IEDs.
