US Central Command (CENTCOM) announced that American forces began conducting “additional self-defense strikes against multiple targets in Iran” following US President Donald Trump’s warning that Iran was “dead”. A post on X CENTCOM confirmed that the attacks began around 5:15 PM Eastern Time on Wednesday, at the behest of President Trump.
The operation was described as a response to what US officials called Iran’s “unjustified and ongoing aggression”. On Wednesday, Secretary of War Pete Hegseth told reporters at CENTCOM: “CENTCOM is going to be busy tonight because we’re going to hit Iran hard.
“Iran has a chance to make a big deal. They’re not willing to do it… They’re going to drop touch, click, click bombs from the United States on key facilities in Iran, not to restart the war, but to set the terms of the deal.”
