US Central Command (CENTCOM) announced this morning that Washington has launched a new wave of attacks against Iran. The official account of US Central Command wrote on X: “At 6 a.m. (ET) today, US Central Command forces began launching a wave of strikes against Iran.
“The strikes were designed to further weaken the military capabilities used by Iranian forces to attack merchant shipping in the Strait of Hormuz.” This came just a few hours later. The comment came as the two countries exchanged fire for the fourth consecutive day. In April this year, the US President threatened to bomb civilian infrastructure in Iran, including bridges and power plants.
“An entire civilization will die tonight and never be brought back. I don’t want it to happen, but it probably will,” he wrote in a post on Truth Social.
Previously, Trump withdrew his proposal to impose a 20 percent fee on all cargo shipments passing through the Strait of Hormuz. However, he later reimposed the blockade on Iranian ports, intensifying the pressure on Iran and disrupting the country’s maritime trade activities.
But on Monday he said the United States was now the “guardian” of the Strait of Hormuz and promised to impose a 20% fee on all cargo sent through the waterway to protect the strait.
Further escalating the tension, Trump announced that the United States would restart the naval blockade of Iran, the aim of which would be to increase economic pressure on the country and deepen the pressure on its already fragile economy.
In his latest post on Truth Social, Trump wrote: “I have decided to replace the 20% US Reimbursement Fee with Trade and Investment Agreements between the various Gulf States to the US.
“These Investments will be BIG, but they will also be extraordinarily good for them and their future.”
