The state-controlled media of the Islamic Republic of Iran is promoting memorandums of understanding with the United States to reopen the Strait of Hormuz and treat it as a victory for Tehran’s illegal nuclear weapons program over the United States and Israel.

The major diplomatic breakthrough, known as MOU with its initials, is planned to be signed with a signing ceremony to be held in Switzerland on June 19. Iranian state-controlled television boasted that “the United States was forced to sign an agreement to end the war.”

The State Department classifies Iran as the world’s worst state sponsor of terrorism, and Iran’s state-controlled media apparatus is notorious for spreading anti-US propaganda, according to Iran experts.

Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Kazem Garibabadi said the following, according to the country’s sources: Tasnim News Agency“This memorandum does not mean trusting the enemy; it was written with active distrust. We will monitor the fulfillment of the United States’ commitments.”

The Islamic Republic of Iran News Agency (IRNA) reported that the country’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi “stressed that national harmony and the active presence of the people serve as an important capital and fundamental basis of Iran’s diplomatic authority.”

According to IRNA, Araghchi said that “Iran’s real strength on the global stage stems not only from its military capabilities, but also from national cohesion, resilience and the active participation of its people.”

“The Iranian nation not only achieved tactical victories in the 12-day war and the last war in June last year, but also achieved important strategic successes, the impact of which can be seen in both regional and global equations,” the senior diplomat from Tehran said.

President Trump announced some elements of the Memorandum of Understanding on Sunday. He wrote on social media. “The agreement with the Islamic Republic of Iran is now complete.” “I authorize the free opening of the Strait of Hormuz, and I also authorize the immediate lifting of the U.S. Navy blockade. Ships of Earth, start your engines. Let the oil flow!”

There are additional components of the MoU that have not yet been approved, including a timeline for sanctions relief and an end to Iran’s enrichment of uranium for nuclear weapons.

“In Iran, state media are selling this as a victory, not a compromise. The message on Iranian television is that a ‘strong and proud’ Islamic Republic is pushing Washington to recognize its control of the Strait of Hormuz and ease military pressure, while Tehran has given up little in return,” Lisa Daftari, founder and editor-in-chief of The Foreign Desk, told Fox News Digital.

Daftari, a leading expert on the Islamic Republic, added: “The Islamic Republic’s DNA is built on delay, deception and denial. Every agreement it signs has been treated as a tactical pause on the road to more missiles, more proxies and more influence, not a real change of behavior. So while it is important to read the fine print of this new agreement, it is even more important to remember who signed it. A system that survives by keeping deadly weapons to its neighbors and lying to itself. People will suddenly not be reliable partners.”

He concluded: “The Trump administration should assume from day one that Tehran will test every vulnerability, hide every possible capability, and continue its nuclear program, amass drones and missiles, and finance its deadly proxies while continuing to torture the Iranian people at home.”

Vice President J.D. Vance told Fox News’ “The Big Weekend Show” on Sunday: “I think this is a big moment for the United States of America. Thanks, of course, to the President’s leadership and the hard work of the entire team. Three things that I think are important for the American people to appreciate what this agreement means to all of us as Americans.”

“First, this is the immediate opening of the Strait of Hormuz and, of course, the lifting of the naval blockade we have imposed on Iran. This means that Iran will never have nuclear weapons and is not pursuing or trying to acquire nuclear weapons just for the sake of obtaining nuclear weapons.”

Cameron Khansarinia, private secretary to Reza Pahlavi, leader of Iran’s democratic opposition and exiled former crown prince of Iran. wrote to x: “Understood or not, the Iranian people will not stop their struggle for freedom. The future of Iran has always been in the hands of the Iranians. And it will remain so. With or without help, the Iranians will overthrow the Islamic Republic. The struggle continues. Prince Reza Pahlavi will lead Iran to freedom.”

Maryam Rajavi, the leader of another of Iran’s leading opposition groups, the elected president of the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI), said in a statement: “The Iranian Resistance, which has been seeking freedom and peace for nearly fifty years, welcomes any understanding to end the war and the suffering of the Iranian people. No one in Iran wanted or wants war except the remnants of the mullahs and the Shah.”

“The effort to produce nuclear weapons, warmongering and intervention in the countries of the region are part of the survival strategy of the religious fascism that rules Iran, and it will not abandon them as long as it can. War is this regime’s shield against popular uprisings, while peace and ceasefire are like ‘poison’ for it, in Khomeini’s words. The overthrow of the regime is the responsibility of the Iranian people and their organized resistance. I emphasize once again that any international agreement that will end the war will lead to the execution of political prisoners and “It must include an end to the killing of protesters.”
