Iran’s state-run news outlet Tasnim said on Monday that Iranian negotiators will stop exchanging messages with the United States through intermediaries and will move to completely close the Strait of Hormuz in retaliation for Tehran’s ongoing ceasefire violations.
The report, included in a translated post on the social media site Telegram, focuses on Israel’s military operations against the Iran-backed militia group Hezbollah in Lebanon.
Oil prices rose more than 5% following Tasnim’s report.
The White House and U.S. Central Command did not immediately respond to CNBC’s requests for comment on the report.
